Hello! This week paid subscribers are in for a treat! I have discovered the new audio function on Substack and have recorded - live and unedited - an intimate insight into my day as a parent and a person. If that’s not a reason to sign up to be a Gay to Ze VIP then frankly *tosses hair* I don’t know what is.
For the rest of you Muggles, here’s some queer parenting news.
Remember the gay male couple the tabloids considered the world’s first gay Dads (which is obviously ludicrous as queers have been birthing and / or raising children since the dawn of time, Barrie and Tony Drewett-Barlow? Maybe you don’t if you’re under 35 as they had their first children via surrogacy in 1999. Any way, they’ve now divorced (amicably) and Barrie who is 51 has just had his 7th child and his second with his new partner Scott. Gay to Ze is a safe space, we are open minded and since our last Botox treatment, unable to raise an eyebrow even if we should want to. So we proffer the next pieces of information in the most neutral tone of voice. Barrie’s new partner is 20 years his junior and was, apparently, previously dating his daughter. Barrie and Scott live with Barrie’s ex Tony in a £10million mansion in San Francisco. Barrie and Tony separated in 2019, and shortly afterwards Barrie began dating Scott. The couple had a daughter in 2020. They had hoped to also have Tony named on their new son’s birth certificate and become the first 'throuple' parents, as Tony also donated sperm. However, Tony will now be named godparent instead. And finally, they are currently building a £6million mansion in Essex, with an underfloor aquarium.
You are welcome!
