Italy's erasure of lesbian mothers: What can we do?
We protested outside the Italian Embassy in London!✊
On Wednesday 2nd August protestors gathered outside the Italian Embassy in London to voice their disgust at the Italian government’s latest attack on LGBTQ+ rights: removing the name of the non-gestational mother from their child’s birth certificate.
More protests are planned across Europe, including one at The Vatican today.
If you feel as enraged about the situation as we do here’s what you can do:
Share and help spread the word. Sadly this appalling situation in Italy is not getting as much press coverage or social media attention as other issues so anything you can do on your own platforms to bring attention to it is helpful. This article explains what is happening. And you can use any of the images posted here or videos from this Getty link
Send a letter to the Italian Embassy in your country Here is a link to a template letter you can print out and sign and send to 4 Three Kings' Yard, London W1K 4EH, UK or email ambasciata.londra@esteri.it There is also a translation of the letter into other languages including Italian here

Huge thanks to everyone who came to protest yesterday and who has shown their support in other ways. Viva La Mamma Lesbica!
I learned about the protests outside the Italian Embassy in London for LGBTQ+ rights. It's important to spread awareness and show support. 🏳️🌈 Impressive work! 🌟
